World's First True E-Novels 1996: Documented History
Clocktower Fiction 1996. During the fall of 1996, Brian and I spent many hours discussing our hopes and plans for the future of our brain child. We decided upon the business name of C&C Publishers. In December 1996, we bought our first domain name (clocktowerfiction.com). To the best of my knowledge, our original hosting was by a company called serve.com, whose domain has since apparently been acquired by a credit card service. We soon switched to a local San Diego firm, Electriciti (eciti.com), which still exists and still owns the domain, but specializes in car enthusiasm, whereas in 1996 they emerged as an all-purpose hosting service. Snapshots of our original existence show either serve.com or eciti.com as our host, with our two websites (Neon Blue Fiction and The Haunted Village) as subfolders. With Clocktower Fiction in 1996, we acquired our first domain name and therefore our first personal website. Brian created the original logo art as shown here. His model was again from his U.K. trip a few years earlier. The clocktower is an idealized version of the Big Ben tower. The name Clocktower Fiction originated in an unpublished, atmospheric novel of mine, which I will release one of these days yet.
